An edible mission
Edible. Nutritious. Circular. Designed by nature, consumed by humans, and returned to the Earth. Within this project, Dr. Andrea Brittnek, DLA and Kata Lagzi combine algae-based films with mycelium packaging to create aesthetic and functional objects.
More than Packaging_
The organic aesthetics, natural shades, and edibility of the Mycelium used offer a new perspective on packaging culture. Beyond circular sustainability, this approach may also respond to public health concerns. Combined with Algae, our goal is to create Mycelium-based packaging that can be consumed after the stored product is used. A translucent, removable protective layer made from seaweed shields the surface from external influences while remaining edible, nutritious and compostable. Our work aims to reduce packaging waste and support a Thriving Planet and future Humanity.
Our work was presented in two different sections at this event:
At the D16 Stand, we exhibited both the finished packaging designs and the artistic creations, while our specially curated material samples were included amongst the collection specimens, allowing the general public to touch them and examine them more closely.
